Growing What Matters

Growing What Matters

Growing What Matters

Every year brings an invitation.

Not always loud.
Not always obvious.
But steady and full of quiet promise.

An invitation to pause, take stock, and ask a simple but meaningful question: What am I growing?

Because our lives are shaped by what we tend to what we return to, what we nurture, what we allow to take root.

“Those who are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God.”
— Psalm 92:13

Flourishing doesn’t happen by accident. It comes from being planted in the right place, cared for over time, and given room to grow.

Growth Begins Below the Surface

Much of the growth that matters most happens quietly. Beneath the surface. Long before anything visible appears.

Roots stretch before fruit forms. Strength is built before beauty is revealed. And often, God does His deepest work in places no one else sees.

This season, growing what matters may look less like striving and more like trusting. Showing up consistently. Tending what God has already placed in your care rather than rushing to plant something new out of comparison or pressure.

The Beauty (and Necessity) of Pruning

Healthy growth requires pruning.

In a garden, pruning isn’t a sign of failure it’s a sign of life. It’s a deliberate act of care, creating space for what is healthy to flourish.

Jesus speaks to this directly:

“He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.”
— John 15:2

Pruning can be uncomfortable. It often looks like letting go of habits, distractions, or even good things that no longer serve the season you’re in.

But pruning isn’t about loss. It’s about alignment. About choosing depth over excess and clarity over clutter.

Choosing What You Intentionally Grow

We live in a culture that celebrates more, more productivity, more commitments, more noise. But Scripture invites us to wisdom and discernment instead.

“Be very careful, then, how you live not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity.”
— Ephesians 5:15–16

Growing what matters means choosing fewer things, but tending them well.

Maybe this is the year you grow:

  • Faith that is steady rather than rushed

  • Relationships rooted in presence and honesty

  • A home that feels peaceful instead of perfect

  • Rhythms that honor rest as much as productivity

“Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy.”
— Psalm 126:5

God honors faithful planting even when the fruit feels far off.

A Home That Reflects What Matters Most

Our homes often tell the story of what we value.

The words we place on our walls.
The spaces we create for rest and gathering.
The reminders we choose to live with every day.

A home can be more than a backdrop—it can be a place that gently anchors us in truth.

“As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
— Joshua 24:15

This year, we’re choosing pieces that do more than fill space. Pieces that encourage reflection, foster peace, and quietly point us back to what we’re growing faith, gratitude, hope, and intention.

Trusting God With the Harvest

One of the most freeing truths in Scripture is that we are not responsible for the harvest we are responsible for faithfulness.

“I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow.”
— 1 Corinthians 3:6

We plant.
We water.
We prune when needed.

And then we trust God with the growth.

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
— Galatians 6:9

This year, may you feel permission to release what isn’t bearing fruit and courage to nurture what is. May you grow slowly, deeply, and with intention.

Here’s to a year of Growing What Matters—together 🤍🌿
