Nicole Mehl's Heart Behind the Art

Nicole Mehl's Heart Behind the Art

Meet artist Nicole Mehl, one of our first artist collaborators here at Joyfully Said! Nicole creates beautiful, intuitive paintings in her studio in Goshen, Indiana (just a few miles away from our shop!). For her, painting is an act of worship and an intimate way that she connects with her Creator. Nicole's paintings quickly became favorites among the Joyfully Said audience, and it's easy to see why. All five of her pieces are top sellers, adding gorgeous vibrant color to homes all over the country. Read on to discover the heart behind each of her five pieces.

A Road Leading Home

When painting the path landscape entitled "A Road Leading Home", the words from a song by Madeleine Owens came to mind:

There’s a house I long to see, Where wounds are healed, where hearts are free.  There are no tears, pain melts to peace. All will be well, all will be well. Christ alone is my hope for tomorrow, He has prepared a way for me. Through teary vision, I can see, A road leading home.

In Full Bloom

In Full Bloom features beautiful blues and greens in the form of gorgeous florals. Nicole painted this piece with Ephesians 3:16-19 in mind:  "From the infinite riches of His glory He will empower you with inner strength through His spirit. Christ will make His home in your heart as you trust in Him. Your roots will grow down deep into God's love and keep you strong. May you have the power to understand how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God."

Among the Wildflowers

Among the Wildflowers is an abstract garden floral piece featuring beautiful hues of blush, green, white, and blue. Nicole painted this piece with Luke 12:22-34 in mind:

"Walk into the fields and look at the wildflowers. They don’t fuss with their appearance, but have you ever seen color and design quite like it? If God can clothe the fields and meadows with grass and flowers, can he not clothe you as well, oh one with so many doubts? If God gives such attention to the wildflowers, most of them never even seen, don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? Do not be anxious about anything. Our loving Father wants to give you the very kingdom itself."

Salt & Light Abstract Pair

The Salt & Light Abstract Pair, featuring hues of green, taupe, gray, and cream was inspired by the many references to salt and light that are found in the Bible.

SALT
You are here to be salt. You are here to season, preserve and bring out the flavor of God on the earth.
Let every word you speak be seasoned with grace, truth and clarity. Preserve the peace among you and live so that people can taste godliness.
[ Matthew 5:13 · Colossians 4:6 · Mark 9:50 ]

LIGHT
Jesus said, "I am the light of the world. Anyone who follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life."
Live as children of light! For the light consists of all goodness, righteousness and truth. Let your light shine on others. Live with an open heart and be generous with your life so that all will see your good works and give glory to our Father in heaven.
[ John 8:12 · Ephesians 5:8 · Matthew 5:16 ]

I just received my art, In Full Bloom.
I was surprised the colors were very faded looking and were a pale gray blue. I expected some teal to be mixed in the blue like the picture online. And I expected to feel the texture of the paint. I plan to keep this – but will need to hang it in a different spot than planned. Just wanted you to know my impressions.
